This week will be the third of 12 chemo treatments. So every Wednesday or Thursday this summer you'll find me at St. Mary's Cancer Center in Walla Walla.
I remember going through my first round last fall in Seattle. Chit-chatting with the nurses I learned that some women came for treatment on their own. I remember marveling about that....why these must be Superwomen! I didn't see how they could do this. Sometimes I had my husband, two sisters, and more in the treatment room.
Of course, now I come to treatment on my own all the time. Not because I'm Superwoman, but because it's just easier and I take advantage of the time to read or watch TV. I'm not saying it's a breeze....just trying to make the best of it.

Rosa! I was just thinking about you yesterday (am on vacation in Arizona). I think I'd be where you are on this one. Once you've gotten rather used to the routine, a little while to yourself might be a pleasant bonus--if it can be called pleasant.
Blessings and courage to you, friend. I continue to pray for you.
I'd say you're a superwoman!
I forget to check the blog and stil haven't figured out how to get autotmatic notice on my email. I am so happy you did the relay in June and I hope you made your goal. I'm sorry I didn't know about it or I would have contributed. I am pledging for the Susan G. Komen 3 day walk that a friend of mine is doing because I know what a difference medical research has made and will continue to make for many lives.
I know how much you cherish your quiet time with a book or a magazine so I'm glad you get that time each week, although I so wish it were under different circumstances. I think we need to figure out how you can continue to give yourself that little window of quiet time each week when treatment is over. You know what is said about "self care first"...I know it can be challenging with children, a spouse, and a job, but there is some truth to what this means. I won't get on my soap box. Take special care and let me know if you want to borrow that book you were reading at my house.
Love you!
Diane
So this is week 8? Four to go? I hope you are feeling well--you sure looked great at VBS! (Unfortunately, that might be the only time I've laid eyes on you this summer....)
I also hope the treatment center has loads of great trashy (umm...I mean intellectual, uplifting and worthwhile) magazines that you can enjoy for a brief weekly escape. Take good care.
